Dr. Sin Yong's lifting protocol on volumetric monopolar radiofrequency, planned zone by zone for faces where laxity runs through more than one area. No incisions, no needles, and a consultation first.
What is it?
The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr. Sin Yong's signature non-surgical lifting protocol. It runs on Volnewmer, a volumetric monopolar radiofrequency platform made by CLASSYS, and grew out of his clinical work with energy devices, including his role as an International Key Opinion Leader for CLASSYS.
Radiofrequency passes an alternating current through the skin. The tissue's natural resistance turns that current into heat, which spreads through a volume of the dermis and the fibrous layer beneath it. Collagen contracts with the heat, and over the following weeks the skin lays down new collagen as part of its repair response. Dr. Sin Yong maps the face zone by zone — jawline, lower cheek, midface, under the chin, brow — and sets the energy and number of passes for each.
Settings are adjusted to your skin thickness and the areas that concern you, and they are reviewed at each session. The aim is a firmer, more defined face that still looks like you.
The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift suits people with mild to moderate facial laxity who want a non-surgical option and accept that the change is gradual. It is often chosen by people told they are "not ready for a facelift", and by those maintaining the result of earlier treatment. Advanced sagging, with heavy skin folds, is usually a surgical question, and we will say so.
A private consultation with Dr. Sin Yong is required to assess your suitability and develop a personalised treatment plan.
They use different energy. Ultherapy is a focused ultrasound device that heats set points at fixed depths. Thermage and the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift both use monopolar radiofrequency, which heats a broader volume of tissue; the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr. Sin Yong's protocol on the Volnewmer platform, planned zone by zone. Which suits you depends on where your laxity sits, and that is decided at consultation.
You feel deep warmth that builds and fades with each pass. Energy is adjusted to what you can tolerate, and numbing cream can be used if you need it.
Longevity depends on individual factors including skin condition, age, lifestyle and maintenance. Dr. Sin Yong will advise on a personalised maintenance schedule at your consultation.
Yes. It is sometimes combined with the Time Freeze Laser LCLR®, or with filler where volume loss is part of the picture. Dr. Sin Yong will recommend the combination that fits your face at consultation.
Most people return to normal activities the same day. Redness and warmth usually settle within hours; mild swelling or tenderness for a day or two is possible.
Volnewmer is a monopolar radiofrequency platform made by CLASSYS, a Korean maker of energy-based medical devices. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is Dr. Sin Yong's protocol on that platform: the device is one part, and the plan for your face is the other.
It depends on your skin and how much laxity there is, so the number is set at consultation rather than in advance, and the result is reviewed at about three months before anything further is planned.
It is not done during pregnancy, over active skin infection, or in people with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device. Metal implants in the treatment area, recent filler or threads, and conditions that affect healing change the plan, so tell us about them.
No. A surgical facelift repositions deeper tissue and removes excess skin. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift tightens and firms without incisions, and the change is more modest and gradual. Where descent is advanced, surgery is the more realistic option, and Dr. Sin Yong will tell you if that is the case.
In Depth
Skin loosens with age for several reasons at once. Collagen and elastin in the dermis thin out, the fibrous bands that tether skin to deeper tissue relax, fat compartments in the midface deflate and slide, and the bone beneath recedes a little. Energy devices work on the first two. That is why the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift is described as a tightening and firming treatment, and why volume loss is planned separately. [1,2]
Monopolar radiofrequency has been studied for facial tightening since the early 2000s. Early multicentre and clinical studies reported tightening of the brow and periorbital skin and improvement of cheek and neck laxity in many treated patients, with a response that varied between individuals and developed over months rather than days. [3,4] That shapes how we describe it: gradual, variable, and best judged against photographs.
On the day, Dr. Sin Yong marks the face into zones and sets the energy and passes for each. Thinner skin, such as near the eyes, is treated more lightly; the jawline and lower cheek often take more.

| Main problem | What usually helps | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Loose skin along the jawline and lower face | VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or HIFU | Chosen by where the laxity sits and how thick the skin is |
| Flat or deflated midface | Cheek filler or a collagen-stimulating filler | Energy tightens; it does not add volume |
| Want a visible lift on the day | Thread lift | The mechanical lift fades as threads dissolve |
| Fullness under the chin | Double chin assessment | Laxity, fat and chin shape are treated differently |
| Heavy folds and advanced descent | Surgical opinion | Energy-based tightening has limits |
Energy-based lifting tightens what is there. It does not replace lost volume, and where descent is advanced it does not match a surgical facelift. Saying so at consultation is part of choosing well.

Warning signs. Contact the clinic if you notice blistering, crusting, a spreading red or painful area, or a dip in the skin in the days after treatment.
