Energy-Based Lifting
FDA-cleared HIFU lifting targeting the SMAS layer — the same structural depth as surgical facelifts — for non-invasive facial tightening and lift. Performed by Dr. Sin Yong at Atelier Aesthetics, Singapore.
What is it?
Ultherapy uses High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to target the SMAS layer — the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System — the same structural layer that surgeons address during a surgical facelift. By heating this layer to approximately 60–65°C, Ultherapy triggers immediate collagen contraction and long-term collagen neogenesis, producing a gradual, progressive lift over 3–6 months.
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive device with FDA clearance specifically for lifting the brow, chin and neck. It is backed by over a decade of clinical evidence and remains one of the most studied non-surgical lifting devices in the world.
At Atelier Aesthetics, Dr. Sin Yong customises Ultherapy protocols to each patient's anatomy and frequently combines it with his proprietary VF Lift or Time Freeze Laser LCLR® for enhanced multi-layer results.
Important note from Dr. Sin Yong: Ultherapy is highly effective but is not the right choice for every patient. In those who are already slim, Ultherapy can cause further volume loss in the cheeks — counterproductive if volume preservation is important. Dr. Sin Yong will assess your facial anatomy carefully at consultation to determine whether Ultherapy, his VF Lift protocol, or a combination approach is most appropriate for you.
Both use focused ultrasound. Only one shows you the layer before it treats it.
Ultherapy targets the SMAS layer using HIFU — one depth, one modality. The VF Lift is Dr. Sin Yong's perfected multi-level protocol addressing multiple tissue depths simultaneously, often producing more comprehensive results. The two can be combined for exceptional multi-layer lifting. Dr. Sin Yong will recommend the most appropriate approach at consultation.
Patients typically feel heat and tingling sensations during treatment. Discomfort levels vary — the face and neck can be more sensitive than other areas. Dr. Sin Yong tailors energy settings and may use additional comfort measures for sensitive patients.
Results from Ultherapy develop gradually over 3–6 months and typically last 12–18 months. Annual maintenance treatments help sustain and build on results over time.
Ultherapy is best suited for those with mild to moderate facial laxity who want gradual, natural-looking improvement. It is less suited for patients who are very slim (risk of additional volume loss) or who have very significant sagging. Dr. Sin Yong will assess this at consultation.
