Weight Loss and Body Contouring

These are sequential, not interchangeable. Contouring a body that is still changing weight wastes both money and time.

1. Contouring assumes a stable weight

Fat reduction removes cells in a treated area. Subsequent weight gain redistributes to untreated areas, which can produce disproportionate contour rather than the intended result.

2. Weight management is a medical process, not an aesthetic one

Metabolic assessment, nutrition and where appropriate pharmacological support belong before contouring, and belong under medical supervision.

3. Rapid loss creates its own contour problem

Significant weight reduction frequently leaves skin laxity that fat-reduction devices cannot address and that may ultimately require surgical management.

4. The realistic sequence is loss, stabilise, then contour

Contouring performed at a stable weight, on residual deposits that diet and exercise have not shifted, is where these technologies genuinely perform.
